Zapopan’s Greek sculpture

“Ariadne’s Thread,” a sculpture all in burnished steel, has appeared at the corner of Lazaro Cardenas and Niño Obrero in Zapopan.

The work, by Universidad de Guadalajara-educated artist, philosopher and dancer Humberto Baca, is named for the means by which Greek myth personage Theseus escapes from King Minos’ labyrinth: a thread leading to freedom left by the king’s daughter Ariadne, powerfully smitten by the young hero.
