Jalisco Civil Protection officers restricted access to the Parque Nacional Nevado de Colima (which includes the Colima volcano) January 1 due to the inclement weather, which included heavy mist, rain and the potential for snow.
They also issued warnings to drivers using the Guadalajara-Colima autopista (toll road), where heavy dust storms (tolveranas) were reported between kilometers 38 and 56.
