Homicides in Jalisco reached record levels in 2019, ending the year at 2,672, a monthly average of 222.

With its population of 7.8 million, this means Jalisco last year recorded 34 homicides per 100,000 people – up from 30 in 2018.Colima was the state with the highest ratio: 104.9 homicides per 100,000 people, followed by Baja California with 83. The safest state in Mexico was the Yucatan, with only 1.5 homicides per 100,000 people.0
