Although the Mexican government has made no announcement about banning mass gatherings due Covid-19, organizers of such events are taking matters into their own hands for the public good.

- Local events canceled or postponed late this week included the WTA Zapopan Open tennis tournament, the pre-olympic soccer tournament, the Guadalajara International film Festival, the Sunday (and Monday, March 16 holiday) Via RecreActiva traffic-free activity, Talent Land, the Ricky Martin concert at the VFG Arena.

- After criticism that little was being done to screen passengers arriving at the Guadalajara airport, Friday saw filters installed in both the international and domestic arrivals areas.  Medical teams are checking passengers with thermometer guns, asking questions and requesting that they use hand sanitizer gel.

- As of Friday, no Covid-19 cases had been confirmed in Jalisco.  However, health authorities admitted that only 35 people have been tested in total since the epidemic began.
