Jalisco readies hospitals for adolescent jabs

The Jalisco Health Department is accommodating 41 hospitals where adolescents from ages 12 to 17 with specific health conditions can obtain Covid-19 jabs.

Conditions set by federal authorities that qualify for the vaccine include chronic heart conditions, lung disease, disorders of the kidney, liver or digestive system, neurological disease, endocrine diseases, moderate to severe immunosuppression, asplenia or spleen dysfunction and hematological diseases. Also, adolescents with genetic abnormalities, as well as those pregnant from nine weeks of gestation are encouraged to get vaccinated.

Ten of the 41 hospitals are in the Guadalajara metropolitan area, while the remainder are in the interior of Jalisco. As yet, no dates have been set for the vaccine rollout in Jalisco.
