Cutting-edge Tesla tech added to Jalisco security strategies

The Jalisco state police force is adding three Tesla Cybertrucks to its fleet, with the primary aim of enhancing surveillance and intelligence operations.

pg1dThe first Cybertruck was put on public display this week in front of Guadalajara Cathedral, giving locals a chance to see the vehicle up close. Many said they were impressed by the unconventional, futuristic design of the all-electric vehicle.

Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus said the acquisition of the Cybertrucks — costing more than US$115,000 each — is part of a broader effort to modernize the state police force and improve public perceptions of safety. He emphasized that both functionality and public image are critical to law enforcement—particularly in the lead-up to the 2026 World Cup.

The Jalisco government believes the bold, military-style design of the vehicles will create an imposing presence while signaling a forward-thinking approach to public security in the state.
