Exhibit in San Antonio

Monica Cardenas has re-branded her San Antonio Tlayacapan gallery on the plaza as La Tiendita de Arte Los Ojos del Tiempo.

She invites you to the opening of an art show by Tapatio artist Emilio Alejandro Florez Saturday, November 18, 4 to 7 p.m.

Florez (above) was born in Guadalajara and began drawing sketches and cartoons for his classmates in school. He met master potter Paco Padilla at age 16 and was invited to his workshop. There he learned about the world of art as he developed painting skills on pottery and experimented with oxide-based pigments and patina characteristics that he later used in his personal art.

Florez studied at the University of Guadalajara’s School of Art, Architecture and Design. He then worked in the art studio of renowned Mexican sculptor and artist Alejandro Colunga for five years. There he developed the discipline in drawing, color, the mix of techniques and creative process of the neoexpressionist artist.

His most recent exhibits have been at the Galeria Luna in Ajijic, Galeria EA and the Fundacion Brockman in Guadalajara, and Galeria A. Torres in Cholula, Puebla. Previously he has exhibited in Ciudad Obregon and Mexico City.  He currently resides in both Chapala and Guadalajara.
