BRAVO!’s ‘The Children’ will make you ponder, but the humor shines through

If you are looking for a play that will make you both think and laugh out loud, you can find in Bravo! Theatre’s “The Children.”

pg21This Tony-nominated work by Lucy Kirkwood will lead you to ponder big questions about sacrifice, parenting, love, and the risks of nuclear power. The intimate space at Bravo is perfect for sharing the revelations that confront the play’s three characters.

The scene is a cozy, remote cottage on the English coast inhabited by Hazel (Deborah Kloegman) and Robin (Paul Kloegman) in the wake of a nuclear power plant accident. The couple is living with restricted electricity and rationed water, in an area just outside the radiated “exclusion zone.” When they receive an unexpected visitor from the past, Rose (Kathleen Carlson), we find out that all three were nuclear physicists at the power plant many years ago. As the former co-workers become reacquainted, we learn secrets about their past and current lives.
