Las Voces del Lago to perform next month

Las Voces del Lago is hard at work preparing for its third concert series to be presented at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday,  June 13, 14 and 15, at the Lakeside Presbyterian Church, San Jorge 250, Riberas del Pilar.

The choir will present a pops concert featuring music from the Big Band era to famous hits throughout the decades. “Sing, Sing, Sing!” is a show that will surely have you tapping your feet and humming along. There is a little bit of something for everyone and the uplifting vibe of the show will leave you feeling wonderful!

Watching a choral group grow from the ground up is an inspirational experience. It is not just learning the music. It is growing together as a family, trusting and supporting each other. Voces del Lago  are blessed to have the creative genius of Ken Turner and Gary Young guiding them through the current season’s challenging set of musical megahits.

The spring concert’s title song, “Sing, Sing, Sing (With a Swing),” is  from the early years of Big Band. Then there’s a lively Beatles medley of “Here Comes the Sun,” “In My Life” and “Can’t Buy Me Love.” “Truly Brave” is a brilliant mash up arrangement of two great songs, “Brave” and “True Colors.” Sara Bareilles and Cyndi Lauper collaborated on this arrangement to raise awareness for pediatric cancer. The creative combination arrangement of “I Love You” and “What a Wonderful World” makes these beloved songs sound like they have always belonged together. The iconic “I Believe” was composed to offer hope and faith to a troubled world during the outbreak of the Korean War in 1950, and  “I’m Still Standing” is most often seen as a statement of Elton John’s resilient comeback after a lull in his career. During a recent rehearsal, the choir joked that “I’m Still Standing” could be the signature song for Las Voces del Lago; rehearsals are exhausting for many of us, but oh so rewarding!
