Auditions for Naked Stage

Auditions for the play readings of “Hotline” and “The Spelling of Coynes,” both one-act plays, will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 10 a.m. at The Naked Stage Theatre. The director will be Collette Clavadetscher.

“Hotline” by Elaine May is about a neurotic woman with enough urban angst to fill a neighborhood, who calls a suicide hotline one night. The counselor who gets the call is overwhelmed – it’s his first night on the job. This is a dark and desperate, wildly funny piece.

The “Spelling of Coynes” by Jules Tasca concerns a house painter in his forties who schemes to marry an 80-year-old woman to inherit her money. His fiancée is reluctant at first, but succumbs to his “how long can she last” refrain when she finds out the old woman is worth millions.  At the conclusion of this funny look at greed, one finds out how long she can last.

The director needs two men and one woman for “Hotline” and two women and one man for “The Spelling of Coynes.”

Directors needed

Would you like to direct a reading at The Naked Stage?  If so, a meeting of prospective directors is scheduled for Wednesday, April 17, 11 a.m. at the theater. Bring a copy or copies of plays that you would like to direct. The plays must be submitted to the Naked Stage board for consideration. If you do not have a copy of a play you would like to direct please submit the title and a short description. The board will take it into consideration. The Naked Stage has plays that need directors and possibly you would like to direct one of them.
