Written by Alvin Sargent, the play focuses on a Wall Street raider who threatens a “mom and pop” company with a hostile take-over. The patriarch of the company is faced with the task of protecting his company, his family and his employees while maintaining his integrity. He gets help from his daughter, a lawyer, who enjoys the thrust and parry of a legal battle with the raider, who tries to win her heart as well as her company. The play asks the question: Are corporate raiders monsters of capitalism or realists?
