Northern Lights Festival: The man behind the music

“Ever since I was a child, I had a dream of running my own music festival,” says Chris Wilshere, a professional violinist and the director of Ajijic’s annual Northern Lights Festival. “I was always keeping my eyes open for the perfect place. The moment I arrived in Ajijic, I realized I found that place –  a beautiful village where musicians would want to vacation.”

Stellar cellist to headline Northern Lights Festival gala

Bursting with emotion, Dvořák’s String Serenade is one of his most popular works and Haydn’s Cello Concerto in C major is, for good reason, a staple of the cello repertoire.  You can hear these two intimate works – originally written for small ensembles – brought to life by the full string section of the Northern Lights Festival Orchestra on Saturday, February 18, 7:30 p.m. at the Auditorio de la Ribera in La Floresta.

Award-winning singer-songwriter to offer memorable evening of popular music at Auditorio

Levi Kreis, known for originating the role of Jerry Lee Lewis in Broadway’s Tony-nominated musical “Million Dollar Quartet,” will give a concert at the Auditorio de la Ribera Saturday, February 25, 6 p.m. The role of the famous rock ’n’ roller won him the 2010 Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical, a 2010 Outer Critics Circle Award, and a 2010 Drama League nomination.
