Kicking off 2020, the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra (OFJ) has announced a series unprecedented in recent memory, spanning the end of January through the start of April – ten weeks chock full with nine concerts, all performed at the acoustically excellent Degollado Theater, five directed by Jesus Medina and four by a diverse and distinguished lineup of guest conductors.

For those inclined toward Mexican art and Latin American history, the University of Guadalajara’s midtown art museum, MUSA, has opened a large and fascinating show entitled “Orozco, Rivera, Siqueiros – The Pending Exhibition.”
‘The Nutcracker’
Jalisco’s talented state-supported ballet company, the Ballet de Jalisco, is accompanied by the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra (first four dates only; recorded music thereafter) in its version of the seasonal classic, “The Nutcracker.” The performance sees 100 dancers on stage, not only including members of the professional troupe but also talented students from local ballet academies.
Riveting, newsworthy subject matter through the lens of a mature, Guadalajara-born artist is a combination that is hard to beat.
