State orchestra’s new season studded with jewels & riddles

The Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra (JPO) has embarked on its fall season, announcing it will sail along several distinct courses before winding up with several special concerts at year’s end, including one spotlighting Jalisco talent (including acclaimed homeboy pianist Juan Pablo Contreras), the finals of a composition competition and a traditional Christmas concert, all held at the acoustically renowned Teatro Degollado in the center of Guadalajara.

HUGE show from Germany engulfs Cabañas, MAZ

Overuse “huge” nowadays and you are likely to sound like Donald Trump. Yet “huge” may be the best word to describe the current art exhibition, “Viaje Alrededor del Mundo” (Traveling the World), shot straight from the heart of Germany to Guadalajara’s Instituto Cultural Cabañas and the MAZ (Museo de Arte Zapopan).
