American School race

Think green – the sixth annual Eco Race and Green Market are scheduled for Sunday, March 31 at Guadalajara’s American School Foundation. Everyone is welcomed to this event meant to raise awareness about conserving the planet’s resources. Expect to learn a lot about recycling and reuse techniques.

There will be races of various lengths for different age groups over  2k, 5k and 10k distances. Registration fees depend on the distance. Plan to arrive at 8 a.m. at Calle Colomos 2300 in Colonia Providencia.

Book discussion

The English Book Club meets at the American Society (Amsoc) Thursday, March 21, 10 a.m. The book under discussion will be “The Water Will Come” by Jeff Goodell (2017, 332 pages, available on Kindle). This is a deeply reported and very well-written account of how rising sea levels are reshaping our world. Goodell has written a powerful call to arms that is never preachy but is a very timely reminder that we ignore how climate change is raising sea levels only at great risk to our way of life.

Amsoc is at San Francisco 3222, Colonia Chapalita. All welcome.
