Still time to get the party started

Those determined to bring in 2013 with a bang, or at least a low roar, still have a few chances to get in on the fun. Some restaurants have a little reveling space left. Better get to it right away, though, New Year’s Eve is not around the corner … it’s right on the corner.

Manix Restaurant (Ocampo 57, Ajijic) will serve the whole enchilada, with a five-course meal, champagne and grapes at midnight, fireworks, live music with Ricardo and Blanca and lots of fun. They even promise to have taxis on hand for those who are a bit wobbly about driving. For more details call 766-0061.

Restaurant #4 (Donato Guerra 4, Ajijic) will have a 500-peso cover charge that includes live music and noise makers. Food and drink will be available. Call 766-1360 for reservations.

Roberto’s Restaurant (Carretera Poniente) will give you choices of roast turkey dinner for 170 pesos, giant prawn bourguignon for 240 pesos or stuffed lobster Thermidor for 330 pesos. There will be live music. Call 766-1616.

Armando’s Hideaway (Privada Ocampo, next to Hotel Danza del Sol, west Ajijic) will serve from the regular menu that will have a special added to it at 4 p.m. The special menu will be a mini-shrimp cocktail, house salad, filet mignon with your choice of topping, buttered zucchini with parmesan cheese and your choice of dessert between bread pudding with brandy sauce or “Better than Robert Redford Dessert” for 175 pesos. Call 766-2229.
