Lively Fiesta Charra on Jan. 13

Lakesiders in the mood for a dose of authentic Mexican entertainment will want to catch the Fiesta Charra scheduled for Sunday, January 13, 1 p.m. at the Ajijic bullring, wedged between the town’s east side two soccer fields opening on to Calle Revolucion.

Look for a full afternoon of country style action, featuring a stunning equestrian ballet routine presented by the renowned escaramuza female drill team Las Margaritas de Guadalajara. Also on the bill will be local boys skilled in executing lariat tricks, an exhibition of highly trained Friesian and Andalusian horses, and the Ballet Folklorico Xicantzi performing traditional Mexican folk dances.

The price of admission is set at 80 pesos for adults, 20 for children. Advance tickets are on sale at the Yoli’s Beauty Salon at Plaza Bugambilias and the nearby Auditorio de la Ribera. All proceeds will be destined to support the Chapala Red Cross and a Chamber of Commerce fund set up to purchase traditional Christmas Nativity scenes for displays in San Antonio, Ajijic and other lakeshore towns.
