Wise men grace Ajijic plaza

The Three Wise Men of the Orient received an enthusiastic welcome at the Ajijic plaza on the evening of Sunday, January 6.  Although their arrival happened nearly two hours later than the time announced in this newspaper, youngsters and adults alike were delighted to meet the regally garbed Reyes Magos as they marched around the square tossing out sweets and stopping to pose for photos. The appearance ended with a swing by the scene of shepherds watching over a pen filled with live goats, a pair or newborn sheep and a horse and a final stop at the adjacent stable where they bowed down before Mary, Joseph and the infant Jesus. The dramatization was staged by the Ajijic Passion Play theater troupe.  Those attending the Epiphany celebration also enjoyed platters of steaming pozole dished out free of charge and a piñata-smashing free-for-all for the little nippers.
