Canadian Air Force Association completes successful tournament

Members of the Canadian Air Force Association held their seventh annual golf tournament at the Chapala Golf and Country Club on February 7.

They registered their best turnout ever with 60 golfers and 107 guests for the excellent pit roasted pig dinner. Everyone had a great time and, as usual, the entire staff at the golf club did a great job.

Winners were Dick Irving for the putting contest, Mark Eager for “closest to the pin for men” (no women entered this contest), Mae Bishop took the prize for Best Precision Drive for the Ladies and Steve Griffen took that same prize for the men.

The third placed team comprised Steve Griffen, Ian Fraser, Ron Hudson and Jimmy Parks. In second place were Doug Ferris, Barbara Ferris, Don Pearson and Beth Pearson. The first placed team was Allan Henningsgaard, Camelia Magallanes, Janis Phair and Mike Daniel.

Bob Sergent won the door prize donated by Sandi Brisco of First Choice Homes.

La Nueva Posada, Robertos, Jardin de Ninette, La Taverna, Cafe Magaña, Manix, Sunrise Restaurant, La Tabarka, La Bodega, The Country Club of Chapala, Armando’s Hideaway, Tio Domingo, Simply Thai, Prango, The Score Restaurant, Aurora Restaurant, Los Telares, and Tony’s all donated prizes for the event. Rossana Aquirres of “House of Talavaros” in San Antonio was there to give each golfer a gift as they registered in the morning.

The Air Force Association wants to thank all who participated and all who helped sponsor this project.
