Golf tourney boosts Red Cross coffers

The weather was perfect, the golf course was in great shape and the food spectacular – these forces combined to make the 11th Annual Cruz Roja Golf Classic at the Country Club de Chapala a huge success.

While none of the 96 participating golfers hit the elusive hole in one that would have sent them home in a new car or new golf cart, there were plenty of fabulous prizes. Golfers always leave this event with a sense of satisfaction from knowing that their day of enjoyment put a significant donation in the coffers of the Cruz Roja and contributed to the welfare of the lakeside community.

The generosity of the sponsors and prize donors added a layer of excitement to the tournament.

President of Cruz Roja Chapala Volunteers Marjorie Kassier presented Country Club of Chapala President Rodney Brookes with the first Community Partner Extraordinaire Award for the club’s continued gracious hosting and enthusiastic support of the event.

Don Marie Fraser, chairperson of the 2014 golf tournament, and Cruz Roja Chapala offered special thanks to all who participated and in particular to the many volunteers, including co-chairs Paula Verden and Frances Smart and their fantastic team. Special thanks go to sausage maker Bruce Sondergaaard for his generous contribution that added so much to the success of the barbecue.
