Weekly Worship - January 16, 2016

San Andres English

The Wedding Feast will be celebrated at the English-language Mass held at San Andres Catholic Church in Ajijic on Sunday, January 17, 9 a.m.

Says Fr. Basil G. Royston, D. Min.: “Marital imagery, and the celebration of the wedding feast, in particular, is centrally important in Scripture, and helps us to understand the depth and nature of God’s plan.”

San Andres Roman Catholic Church is located at the corner of Ramon Corona and Parroquia, in Ajijic.

Little Chapel by the Lake

Pastor Raul Frutos is the guest speaker at the Sunday, January 17, 11:15 a.m. service at the Little Chapel by the Lake.

Frutos will not only preach but also lead the worship music with his guitar. All are welcome to attend the fellowship time before the service, from 10:30 to11:15 a.m.

The church is located on the Chapala-Ajijic highway next to the Chula Vista Golf Club entrance. If you need a ride to the service, call Belva at 766-2538.

Lake Chapala Baptist

Brother Bob Hendrick will continue to talk about James at Lake Chapala Baptist Church this weekend.

“The next section in James is about patience,” he says. “Surely, we got that out of the way when we progressed beyond dial-up internet! But the scriptures tell us that God expects us to be patient even in suffering ... our own suffering. James says to be patient like a farmer, knowing that many things are out of our hands but planning for a harvest because the fruit will be precious. We are to be faithful like the prophets and steadfast like Job; looking to God even in the midst of trouble.’ Be patient, not wasteful.”

Attend the service at the Lake Chapala Baptist on Sunday, January 17, 11 a.m. The church is at Santa Margarita 179 in Riberas del Pilar.

St. Andrew’s Anglican

The stories heard at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church during the Epiphany season are intended to reveal various truths about who Jesus is.  Fr. Winston Welty’s says this Sunday’s sermon, “The Gusto of the Gospel,” the story of wedding water turned into wine, not only reveals something about Jesus, but also has a profound significance for the way in which His followers are called to live out their faith.

Worship begins at Sunday, January 17, 10 a.m., the children’s bilingual Sunday School is at 9:45 a.m., and “Coffee Hour” in the garden follows the worship service.

Every Sunday, the feeding program supported by St. Andrew’s welcomes donations of non-perishable food items, which can be left in the baskets by the Church doors.

St. Andrew’s is at Calle San Lucas 19, a block south of the Carretera in Riberas del Pilar.

Unitarian Universalist

Fred Harland will give the talk “Why I Go to Church” on Sunday, January 17 at Unitarian Universalist.  He will reflect why he and others, many of them non-theists and humanists, regularly attend the Unitarian Universalist congregation. Bill Frayer will lead the service.

The Unitarian Universalists have an enhanced personal sound system to help those with hearing issues during their Sunday services.  Attendees may use headphones or ear buds connected to an FM radio or FM capable cell phone.

The Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalists are an English-speaking, lay-led fellowship that meets every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. on the west side of Ajijic in Plaza de la Ribera, Rio Bravo 10A, in a wheelchair-accessible facility.

New Hope Christian

The congregation of New Hope Christian Fellowship will continue to worship at the home of their association president on Sunday, January 17, 11 a.m.  The worship service will be preceded by a refreshment period beginning at 10:45 a.m. As a part of the worship service, Pastor Gene Raymer will deliver a message with the title “Who Gets Credit?” The pastor will contrast the results of Peter’s encounter with the man who was lame from birth recorded in the third chapter of Acts and Herod’s display of power recorded in Acts 12.

As always, the congregation will continue their day of fellowship with a meal following the service at a local restaurant.

New Hope Christian Fellowship seeks to emulate the first century Christian church and welcomes all believers. For more information about the church or directions to the meeting place, contact the pastor at 376-766-3435.

The Congregations of Christ Church and the Little Chapel share a common coffee fellowship between their respective services from 10:35 to 11:10 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

The Tuesday Bible Study sponsored by Christ Church continues the study of John’s Gospel.
