LCS programs third student aid mini-summit

The Lake Chapala Society has scheduled the third in a series of summit meetings aimed at bringing charity groups together to develop coordination, efficiency and effectiveness in providing financial aid to worthy lakeside area students.

The gathering will be held Friday, January 22, 11 a.m. at the LCS campus.

The first confab, held last November, was a forum designed to introduce the different organizations to one another and to generate a list of 14 possible initiatives to further their objectives. Projects of common interest included publishing a complete registry of students receiving financial aid and producing a comprehensive Financial Aid Resources Guide with descriptions of each charity.  In December participants completed a survey to set priorities, based on value of each project and obstacles that need to be overcome.

On the agenda for the January meeting will be the presentation of drafts of the student registry and resource guide, created with data drawn from the LCS student aid program. Four other high payoff projects that answer the needs of those working in the trenches will also come up for discussion.

All charities involved in student aid efforts with an interest in building a stronger structure to help young people achieve their education and training goals are urged to attend.
