Despite the scare of inclement weather, the Niños Incapacitados “Diamonds and Denim Ball” fundraiser on March 10 was a huge success.
Almost 450 participants enjoyed a silent auction of 270 items, a live auction of ten items, a raffle of a large TV and tequila, roping entertainment and dancing to the lively Ajijic Jamm Band. This year’s sponsors included Tequila Siete Leguas, SmartPV, O’Rourke and Associates, Lee Jeans, Moly-Cop Corporation, and Dot Grafics.
Attendees dined on tender meats, potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans, veggie lasagna, sweet cornbread, and brownies and apple pie with ice cream.
Renowned local chefs donated special group dinners for the auction, including the Culinary Arts Society of Ajijic, Pedro at GO Bistro, Leslie Martin and the Bentivoglios with an Argentine BBQ.
The annual gala, the largest fundraiser of Programa Pro Niños Incapacitados, is supported by scores of volunteers who work for months to create a special event for participants.
