Chapala Mayor Javier Degollado offered a friendly welcome to around 100 Wixáritari (Huichol people) who arrived in town Friday, April 15 after a long trek from their communities in Zacatecas and northern Jalisco.
Members of the tribe converged to visit their sacred site on the Isla de los Alacrane, where they took part in rituals to propitiate good fortunes for Lake Chapala.
