Weekly Worship - May 7, 2016

Little Chapel

Little Chapel by the Lake will be celebrating Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 8, with special guest speaker, Paul F. Allen, who will be speaking on “Me, A Christian?”

Fellowship time with Christ Church starts at 10:35 a.m. with the morning Worship service starting at 11:15 a.m.

The community at Lakeside is asked to help Little Chapel continue its ministry of food parcels to the poor in San Juan Tecomatlan via donations to the white box in front of the chapel.

New Hope Christian

The congregation of New Hope Christian Fellowship will meet Sunday,
May 8, 11 a.m. in the upper room of the Presbyterian church in Riberas del Pilar. A brief refreshment period will precede the worship service which will include communion this week and a fellowship meal will follow the service.
Pastor Gene Raymer’s message this week will deal with community. “While the Bible teaches us that God intended us to live in community so that we might better serve God and each other, we often find that hard to do. We hope to find some answers as to why this is so in the Scriptures themselves.” remarks the pastor.
New Hope Christian Fellowship was founded as a non-denominational congregation welcoming all Christian believers to worship in harmony with each other and with God. For more information on the group or specifics on where they meet, please call the pastor at (376)766-3435 or (333)724-6179.

Sunday, May 8, Jan Manning speaks on “Mothers, Mother’s Day and Activism”at the Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. Manning will discuss the history of Mother’s Day and of the contributions of mothers to a better world. Karyn Carpenter is the service leader.

The Unitarians have moved. They now meet 10:30 a.m. at their new facility at Hidalgo 261, opposite the bell tower, on the north side of the Carretera in Riberas del Pilar.

The congregations of Christ Church and Little Chapel by the Lake share a common fellowship time between their two services, from about 10:35 to 11:10 a.m.

Lake Chapala Baptist

Brother Bob Hendrick says “Boundaries… It seems the modern world hates boundaries. I personally like them. I like to know where the limit of safety is. I like guardrails on tall structures. I appreciate Armco barriers on roads along cliffs. I am grateful for parents who did not require me to make decisions I was ill-equipped to make. I am privileged to have had parents whose “no” meant “no.” I admire commitments and character that are binding. This week we honor mothers — on Sunday in the US — on Tuesday in Mexico. What a gift God has given the world in motherhood. When I was a wee wee tot my mother put me on the wee-wee pot and told me to wee-wee whether I needed to or not. Thank you, Momma for your boundless love that set boundaries for me and for yourself.”

The Lake Chapala Baptist Church celebrates worship service each Sunday, 11 am.  at Santa Margarita 179 in Riberas del Pilar.

St. Andrews Anglican

“The Real Lord’s Prayer” is the sermon title at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church this week. Fr. Winston Welty makes the rather startling suggestion that the familiar prayer said daily by millions of people isn’t really the Lord’s Prayer at all. While it will continue to be prayed during the 10 a.m. worship every week, there’s another prayer that has a better claim on the title, since it expresses Jesus’ own words to God, and His desire for every person of faith.

The children’s bi-lingual Sunday School begins at 9:45, and a coffee hour in the Garden follows the worship service.

On the second Sunday of each month, donations are received for the support of the Sunday School children and their families in Jocotepec. And every Sunday, the feeding programs supported by St. Andrew’s welcome donations of non-perishable food items, left in the baskets by the Church doors.

St. Andrew’s is at Calle San Lucas #19, a block south of the carretera in Riberas del Pilar.

San Andres English

In keeping with the majority of the dioceses in the United States, the San Andrés English Mass Community will celebrate the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord on Sunday, May 8, transferred from Thursday, May 5. Fr. Basil G. Royston, D. Min. will offer the homily “Christ’s Eternal Glory.”

“On this Solemnity we celebrate Christ’s ascension to his eternal glory in heaven and express our Christian hope that where he, our Head has gone before us, we, his Body, will one day follow, to live forever in the kingdom of our Father,” says Fr. Royston.

The Second Sunday white envelope offering for the outreach projects of the San Andres congregation takes place after Mass. This offering supports many local charities: Anita’s Shelter, six student scholarships, Villa Infantil, Operation Feed, Cruz Roja, Niños Incapacitados, El Corazon del Ancianos, the Ancianos Christmas Dinner, the San Andrés fiesta, Niños y Jovenes, and scholarships for local Seminarian students.

San Andres is located at the corner of Ramon Corona and Parroquia, one block from the Ajijic main plaza.
