Shriners organize a ‘Mini Ribfest’

Due to pandemic restrictions, the Lake Chapala Shrine Club’s annual Ribfest fundraiser was cancelled this year.

In the interim, while looking forward to hosting a full-size event in March 2022, the Shriners have scheduled a “mini-Ribfest” benefit at Adelita’s Bar and Grill in San Antonio, set for Wednesday, September 29.

The menu will feature a main course of Adelita’s famous BBQ ribs and sides. Attendance is limited to 80 seats, spaced in accordance with the recommended protocol. For the convenience of those who do not wish to attend, takeout BBQ rib meal boxes may by ordered in advance for home delivery by Shriner volunteers.

Tickets, priced at 450 pesos, are available from David Eccles at 331-017-1724 or This email address is being protected from spambots. Money raised from the dinners will be used to purchase bus tickets for family trips to the Mexico City Shrine Hospital for free treatment and for local therapy.

In 2020, the Lake Chapala Shrine Club sent 49 Mexican families with children with physical disabilities to Mexico City for free operations. Another 18 children were treated locally, with either Denis-Brown Splints or orthopedic shoes.
