St. Andrew’s church hands out 2023 charity grants

Eight lakeside area altruistic organizations were the recipients of grants from the St. Andrew’s Anglican Church Outreach program, handed out May 7 at the conclusion of the regular Sunday service.

Funds are collected through sales at the Todo Bueno Consignment and Resale Store located on the highway in Riberas del Pilar.

pg8bNinos Incapacitados del Lago, A.C., is devoted to helping Mexican families that require financial assistance to cover on-going or major medical expenses for children afflicted with serious disabilities or life-threatening illnesses. The St. Andrew’s grant will go towards stipends for three mothers of patients who work as part-time staff for the non-profit association.

Tepehua Centro Comunitario, A.C., located in the heart of Chapala’s most impoverished barrio, provides myriad of services for its inhabitants, ranging from basic medical care, access to bathing facilities and low-cost drinking water supplies to educational and training programs for children and adult women. The grant is going to an introductory midwifery course on home delivery of newborns, purchase of sonogram equipment for prenatal care and implementation of a guidance and treatment program for 20 patients with diabetes.

Asociacion Femeninia Pro Mexico. A.C. operates the Women’s Empowerment Center located in San Juan Cosalá since 2017 that is committed to improving life for vulnerable people in the lakeshore region through training women in business skills, digital literacy and entrepreneurship. The grant will be used to acquire a new laptop computer to coordinate and manage the center’s activities.
