Lake Chapala Baptist Church

Pastor Larry continued his sermon theme with “The Magnificent Mystery Men” (Luke 1-2). In Luke 3:23-37, God’s Spirit fulfilled the promise to Simeon to see the Messiah before he died. Anna, the prophet, was faithful in speaking for God and proclaiming His truth.

The wise men show the anticipation of Gentile acceptance into the Kingdom of God. In Matthew 2:1-8, Herod plotted against baby Jesus, but the Lord’s angel guided Joseph, Mary and the baby Jesus to safety in Egypt until after Herod’s death. Finally, Matthew 13:44-46 compares Jesus to a pearl of incomparable value that a man will forfeit everything to acquire the pearl. All of these lessons making us aware that God has provided a sacrifice for His elect.

Lakeside Presbyterian Church

Pastor Wayne will talk this Sunday about “The light of Life.”

“He who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

In Chapter 8 of John, Jesus claimed to be the light of the world. Then he said that if we follow him we will walk in his light. One who follows Jesus by definition is a disciple. Our Lord was not trying to make camp followers. He was intent to make disciples. So what is a disciple? Discipleship comes from the same root in Latin as “discipline!” It means a student.

Jesus also claimed to be the truth. So the disciple is one who is being taught or trained in the truth by the Master. It is not surprising that the early believers did not call themselves Christians. They called themselves “The Way.” They single-mindedly followed Jesus; the light, the way, the truth.

The English language service is at 9:30 a.m., which also streams live at facebook.com/LPCChapala. The Spanish language service begins at 11 a.m.

Everyone is welcome to Wednesday drop-in Bible study.

If you need a ride, or more information, call 376-106-0853 before 4 p.m. on Thursday.

There is coffee and refreshments after the service in the Narthex.

Heritage Baptist Church

“New year’s resolutions” are very popular. I will give three Biblical applications that can help Christians

in their resolve to live holier lives during 2024. First, let us resolve to abide in Biblical teaching to guide

us to holy living. Jesus says, “If you abide in My Word, you are truly disciples of mine” (John 8: 31).

Second, let us resolve to understand more about what it means to be sanctified in Christ. The Apostle Paul

writes: “To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints . . .” (1 Cor. 1:2). Third, let us resolve to maintain the unity of the faith. Paul writes: “I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you” (1 Cor. 1:10).

Heritage is a fledgling Baptist Church seeking out our eternal family. Join us upstairs at the Presbyterian Church in Riberas del Pilar Sundays at 11:15 a.m.: Prayer, then wisdom direct from the Word. Wednesdays: Bible study at 4:30 p.m. Info: 333-016-3743, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., or visit our Facebook page.
