The 2026 Amigo Cup returned to the Country Club de Chapala on February 26, and the conditions couldn’t have been more perfect. Under beautiful sunny skies, 75 participants took to the fairways in a high-energy scramble format, all united by a shared goal: supporting the life-changing work of Kids And Their Future.
The day got off to a spirited start on the first hole, where Karen Ramsey from Biencom Realty hosted her traditional tequila tasting, setting a festive tone that carried through the entire tournament.
The Champions!
The 19-team field brought a fantastic blend of skill and friendly rivalry to the links, but a few stood out for their exceptional teamwork and precision:

1st Place: The powerhouse team of Al Mateer, Kathy Mateer, Brock Stewart, and Kate Stewart who walked away with four bottles of 1800 Añejo Tequila and golf passes courtesy of Atlas Country Club.

2nd Place: Trailing closely were Mark Rowen, Sue Campbell and Fran and Dennis Groseclos, who earned 4 bottles of 1800 Cristalino Tequila and golf passes, also provided by Atlas Country Club.

3rd Place: A big round of applause for Marcia Pappas, Jean Omelchenko, Dennis Omelchenko, and Ali Porteous for their impressive third-place finish.
Precision on the course & raffle luck
While the elusive Hole-in-One on Hole 8—and the golf cart prize from Golf Lozano—remained unclaimed this year, several golfers displayed incredible accuracy and power. Additionally, the raffle and 50/50 draw added an extra layer of excitement to the day.
Hector Alcantar won the Closest to the Pin (men) on hole 13 and won a gift certificate from La Nueva Posada.
Elva Johnson won the Closest to the Pin (women) on hole 13 and took away a golf bag and headcovers given by Lindsey Taylor.
Brock Stewart won the Longest Drive on hole 5 and received tequila donated by O’Rourke Investments.
Tracey Bowen won the Longest Drive (women) on Hole 5 and received a gift basket from Pancho’s Deli Market.
Bryan Ozorio won a bottle of tequila from O’Rourke Insurance for the Straightest Drive (men) on Hole 15 and Frankie Olson took away pearls by the late Susy Wittann for the Straightest Drive (women) on Hole 15.
Rob Mullan was the raffle winner of a putter and Terry Walzak won golf balls in the raffle, all donated by Finestra Asesores Financieros.
A special mention goes to Rob Mullan, the 50/50 winner, who exemplified the spirit of the event by generously donating the majority of his winnings back to the charity.
Supporting education one swing at a time
Beyond the trophies and tequila, the true heart of the Amigo Cup is its contribution to Kids And Their Future. This vital program has been empowering local students since 2001, removing financial barriers by covering tuition, school supplies, testing fees, and transportation.
By ensuring students stay on track from kindergarten through university, the community’s generosity on the golf course translates directly into professional degrees and brighter futures for the youth in the Kids And Their Future program.
