Distinguished citizens to be honored

Chapala’s acting mayor Oscar España (second from left)has charged local officials Rafael Escamilla, Cristina Flores and Rogelio Ochoa with the nuts and bolts organization of a series of public ceremonies to honor distinguished inhabitants for their contributions to their respective communities.

Recovered drug addicts regale students with life stories

The Chapala Sunrise Rotary Club was delighted with the strong turnout and participation in its Drug Education Project “Viviendo en Libertad” (Choose Freedom from Drugs), in which 2,500 children aged 10-16, from approximately 16 schools, were presented with life stories by recovered addicts from the Reintegracion Land treatment center run by Gaby Nuñez and Ulises de Los Angeles.

Christ Church Lakeside, formally Christ Church Episcopal, an Anglican/Episcopal mission of the Diocese of the West in the Anglican Church of Mexico, will observe the First Sunday After Pentecost, Trinity Sunday, May 27, with the Holy Eucharist at 10 a.m. in the La Huerta Eventos Center, Carretera West 522, West Ajijic. Fr. Danny Borkowski will preside and give a message “Why?” based on John 3:1-17.
