Expats pay tribute to Canada’s fallen heroes

Canadian Consul Francis Uy (far left) and Ambassador to Mexico Pierre Alarie (second from right) visited  lakeside Wednesday, November 11 to accompany members of the Royal Canadian Legion and 904 Wing of the Royal Canadian Air Force Association for the annual Remembrance Day Service. Later in the day they  appeared for a meet-and-greet at the monthly meeting of the Canadian Club of Lake Chapala and squeezed in a private meeting with Chapala Mayor Javier Degollado.

But “First Things First,” Fr. Winston Welty’s sermon Sunday, November 15, 10 a.m., at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, takes seriously both Jesus’ promise to return and His unwillingness to set a date. Welty simply asks what we’re to do in the meantime.

Film screening of 'Only once in a lifetime' to benefit Niños Incapacitados

Longtime lakeside resident Alejandro Grattan-Dominguez is planning a benefit screening of his last movie, “Only Once in a Lifetime,” as a fundraiser for Niños Incapacitados, the local organization that provides medical and surgical care for area children. This film will be shown on Monday, November 16, 1 p.m. at the Cinemas del Lago in Bugambilas Plaza. 

Lakeside auto experts rev up for another lap

More than 20 years after starting S&S Auto at lakeside, owners Karen Herrtwich and Spencer Shulman are reinventing their business, preparing it for the next decade.  They have expanded their Riberas del Pilar facility to accommodate more makes and models and are increasing their office size to better serve their clients.
