The Thomas Paine Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) was organized in April 1999 in Chapala. Thomas Paine members support several local organizations, including Food Bank Lakeside, Needle-Pushers and Puerta al Ingles.
The Lake Chapala Society (LCS) has completed the first phase of restoration work at the Wilkes Education Center (WEC), marking a significant step in transforming Ajijic’s only public library into a more dynamic community learning hub. The initial improvements, finished in late 2025, lay the foundation for expanded programs and services that will continue to roll out throughout 2026.

Common Ground Fellowship Little Chapel by the Lake will hold a fundraising bazaar on Wednesday and Thursday, January 28 and 29. Proceeds from the sale of the items will provide food for literally thousands of meals for the poorer families in various communities along the north shore of Lake Chapala.
