In Mexico there are currently about 335,000 interconnection contracts from homes and small business with solar panels that provide less than 0.5 megawatts (MW) to the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE).
Jalisco counts with almost 62,000 of those solar panel electricity providers,
The CFE said that 2,611 MW of solare powered capacity were installed in 2022.
Installation companies are growing by about 30 percent annually, due to the regulations that permit homes and businesses to reduce their energy costs by up to 90 percent. Although the sectors growing the most are industrial and commercial, home installations are increasing as well. In the metro Guadalajara area there are more than 100 businesses dedicated to installing solar panel systems.
