Distressed by the pet food tax

Dear Sir,

I am distressed to learn of the proposed 16 percent tax on pet food. Pet food is already quite expensive in Mexico and many people are unable to feed the animals they have.

This will be a further burden on poor Mexican families, who may feel forced to turn their  dogs and cats into the street because of the increased cost.

The problem of stray dogs and cats is serious already. There is limited space in shelters, which already have problems meeting the cost of feeding their animals.

This proposed tax is counter productive, and will lead to more state and federal spending to deal with the problems it creates.
