Letters To The Editor - August 27, 2016

Dear Sir,

Firstly, we would like to thank Tom Thompson for his letter reminding us how important and easy it is to separate our garbage. We too, are interested in a better way of keeping stuff out of the landfills and off of our streets.

In order to raise money for the Feria Maestros del Arte, my husband and I got involved with a company called Terracycle in August 2013.

We collect the following wrappers: chips, pretzels, popcorn, cookies, pan dulce, all bread and bun wrappers, toothpaste tubes, boxes and brushes.

Once a month we have a separating day and ship it all to Terracycle in Monterrey, Mexico (they pay for the shipping).

Our average shipment is now around 100 pounds per month, for a grand total of 1,850 pounds and we have made over 50,000 pesos for the Feria. We have other groups such as Crem, schools, Vista del Lago Golf Club collecting for us and earning money as well.

Please contact me for more information on how you too can help at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 765-6455.

As Tom said, “Future generations will appreciate your efforts.”
