The Akron Zapopan Open WTA tennis tournament reaches its conclusion this weekend, with the quarter finals, semifinals and finals, in singles and doubles, set for Friday, February 25 through Sunday, February 27.

Top-level women’s tennis is back in the city, with the WTA Zapopan Open, which culminates this weekend. Here, Marie Bouzkova of the Czech Republic powers her way into the quarter finals, to be played Friday, February 25. The semis and final are on Saturday and Sunday.
First-round surprises at Guadalajara’s Panamericana Tennis Center included the elimination of Madison Keys, who last month reached the final of the Australian Open, loosing to world number one Ashleigh Barty. Also, the 2021 U.S. Open champion, the U.K.’s Emma Raducanu (world ranking 12th), exited the tournament at the first hurdle, retiring with an injury while trailing 4-3 in the final set to Australia’s Daria Saville. Both players struggled with fitness issues during a contest that set a record for the longest women’s game so far this year, at three hours and 36 minutes.
