Jalisco Palace offer tours in English

As previously, tourists and groups of students will be allowed in to view the building and its impressive stairwell mural featuring independence hero Miguel Hidalgo in full cry.  However, all visitors must register at the entrance.

All other visitors must previously arrange an appointment, or be put on a waiting list to see if they will be permitted to enter to  meet with state government officials.

Although the ground-floor museum is currently closed to visitors, personnel at the palace say it will reopen to visitors soon. The three salons take visitors through the most important moments in the history of Jalisco.

A new feature at the palace is a small vehicle that allows people with disabilities or walking difficulties to be taken up to the first floor via the impressive stairwell. The two-story edifice does not have elevators.

Guided tours of the Government Palace, in both Spanish and English, are offered from Tuesday to Saturday, at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.; and on Sundays at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Sandoval, who took office on March 1, has moved his office down to the ground floor of the palace to “be nearer to the people,” he said.
