Man drowns in city's most prominent monument

An autopsy carried out the next day revealed that the man, aged between 35 and 40, died from drowning. He showed no signs of trauma or having being subjected to any kind of violence, the report said.

The Jalisco Attorney General’s Office (Fiscalia General del Estado or FGE) said they had viewed images from closed circuit cameras installed at the busy traffic circle and concluded that no foul play was involved. However, the images were not released to the media.

Results of tests to determine whether the deceased man, who has not been identified, was under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be ready in three to four days, an FGE spokesperson said.
