As soon as her flight touched down, Marilene Corruda Peña sought medical attention at the airport’s first-aid facility, complaining of severe stomach pains. She was transferred to a Green Cross clinic in Tlaquepaque, where doctors took an abdominal X-ray and became aware of her condition.
Federal police were notified and Corruda was whisked to the Old Civil Hospital, where surgeons removed the packets of cocaine. She faces charges of drug smuggling.
