Marcela Paramo Ortega has been honored as the Social Benefactor of the Year by the Institutio Jaliscience de Asistencia Social (IJAS), the agency that regulates all non-profits in the state of Jalisco.
Paramo founded the Centro Psicoeducativo Freire for children and young people with physical and intellectual disabilities. Located on Avenida Vallarta, near the city arches, the center has earned praise for the innovative methods it employs to stimulate the children’s development, as well as the patience, enthusiasm and love provided by staff. Paramo has also selflessly promoted many other social initiatives.
In addition to the 300,000-peso award, a plaque honoring her achievement will be placed at the IJAS monument in the Glorieta Chapalita.
