The Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) is to begin charging homeowners and businesses in the Guadalajara metropolitan area by the month instead of every two months.
A pilot program in effect since November 2015 in several municipalities of Jalisco has worked well, according to Alvaro Tejeda, CFE’s commercial manager for Jalisco.
One of the aims of the switch, Tejeda said, is to bring the payments in line with monthly telephone and water charges. He said customers had asked the utility to make the change because it “allows them to believe they are only paying half the amount.”
