Police target illegal medicines barrio

In a joint operation last week, municipal, state and federal law-enforcement agencies swooped on vendors selling illegal medicines in Guadalajara’s Santuario neighborhood.

According to a bulletin from the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), officers identified 100 businesses selling or distributing either stolen, outdated or unapproved medicines. Four “drugstores” were closed for not having the correct licenses.  Seven people were arrested and a stash of medicines seized.  Guadalajara police chief Salvador Caro said the raids would be “ongoing.”
