Patrons of the new Corona Market in downtown Guadalajara received a scare this week when a gas leak in a taco stand on the ground floor caused a minor explosion.
Authorities ordered the immediate evacuation of the three-story building housing more than 500 vendors.
Investigators concluded that the taco stand owners were using a faulty ten-liter stationary gas tank that was not authorized by market administrators. The new market has only recently opened for business after being rebuilt following a fire in May 2014 that destroyed the ageing structure.
