Flying High: Airline News

Spanish airline Iberia is interested in opening a direct flight from Guadalajara to Madrid, according to Jalisco Tourism Secretary Enrique Ramos.

Ramos said he recently met with the president of the airline to discuss the idea.  Not only residents of Jalisco, but those living in Nayarit, Aguascalientes, Colima and Michoacan, would prefer to fly directly to Europe from Guadalajara rather than via Mexico City. Ramos said.

Low-cost Mexican carrier Volaris begins its direct flights from Guadalajara to Miami International Airport on February 1. There will be four flights each week.

New connections from international destinations to Puerto Vallarta include a direct flight from Helskini, Finland. Other routes under discussion are Amsterdam and Frankfurt.
