City's new aquarium not quite ready for prime time

Ramiro Hernandez, the previous mayor of Guadalajara, granted Michi Promociones a 30-year concession to build and operate the aquarium on 10,000 square meters of city parkland.   The developers promised to invest 270 million pesos in the project, which will be known as the Acuario Michin. At the time, they boasted that the attraction would be the best in Latin America.

In return for the concession, Michi Promociones is obligated to pay Guadalajara city hall 80,000 pesos a month and provide the city with 10,000 free passes annually.

The entry fee for the new aquarium has yet to be set.
