Speed cameras have been installed on one of the busiest stretches of highway leading in and out of the metropolitan area.
The devices are snapping the plates of drivers breaking the speed limit on Prolongación Lopez Mateos, between Santa Anita and San Agustín – a stretch traffic authorities say has a higher than average incidence of accidents. In addition, traffic authorities announced a plan to lower the maximum speed limit on the Periferico-San Agustín stretch to 60 kilometers an hour.
