LIGHT BULBS Three metro-area municipalities have started a month-long campaign to collect used energy saving light bulbs.

Because these light bulbs contain mercury, they are considered a contamination source and are recommended for recycling. Collection centers will be open between March 3 and April 3 in the Bosque Colomos, Agua Azul Park, Parque San Jacinto, El Dean nursery  and the Plaza 18 de Marzo.

ROAD CLOSURE A 300-meter stretch of Avenida Avila Camacho between Mar Egeo and Circumvalacion will be closed to traffic in both directions for the next seven months as work on line three of the Tren Ligero (city subway) continues.

PROPERTY TAX Zapopan and Tlaquepaque have extended the discount period for payment of predial (property tax) for an extra month.  Both municipalities are offering the 15-percent discount (10 percent for card payments in Zapopan) through the end of March. In addition, Zapopan will not charge late payment fees until May, while Tlaquepaque will offer a five-percent discount in April.
