Sunday, May 7, Guadalajara will be one of several locations around the world to participate in the Wings for Life World Run, a global charity event that sees its geographically disparate races begin at the exact same time.
Guadalajara’s starts 6 a.m. at Plaza Andares at Patria and Acueducto in Zapopan. Keep a lookout for local superhero Don Pedro, a.k.a Kalimán, a 65-year-old who began running only five years ago. You can’t miss him; he’ll be dressed in white with a black belt, long red cape, and a yellow patch with a red “K” sown into the middle of his tight white turban. Cost per runner is 500 pesos, all of which will go to spinal column lesion research. See wingsforlifeworldrun.com.
