Guadalajara film director Guillermo del Toro has won the coveted Venice Film Festival’s Golden Lion for his latest film, “The Shape of Water,” an other-worldly fairy tale, set against the backdrop of Cold War era America circa 1962.
The film explores the bond between a humanoid sea creature and a mute woman played by British actress Sally Hawkins.
This is the 74th edition of the Venice Film Festival, the oldest in the world.
