Residents of two Guadalajara neighborhoods have expressed their opposition to plans to build the city’s new planetarium on the former site of the headquarters of the University of Guadalajara’s now-defunct students’ union, the Federation de Estudiantes de Guadalajara (FEG).
Neighbors say the peace and security of the residential Colinas La Normal and Miraflores neighborhoods would be altered inexorably, and that the area’s traffic infrastructure would not be able to cope. The consensus among neighbors – who include a higher-than-average number of senior citizens – is to construct a park on the site.
